A Jolly Announcement!

April 27, 2009 · 8 Comments

It’s been more than nine months since the previous owners of this outrageous blog posted their last entry. Circulating rumours said it was hacked, was it? Bus as I endeavoured to eradicate the hazy speculation and decipher the ever existing fact, I went on to devour as much information as the late owner granted me (that is, by means of email and Blackberry Messenger contacts), words came to me that the blog was PUT ON SALE. Bizarre it was, but however, I did acquire it at a-price-you-need-not-know-how-much.

So here I am writing to announce that Jakarta Social Blog comes back alive! Just like it used to be months ago. Now please do the favour as to inform me what or who do you want to hear most by means of comments nor emails.

Thank you!

Socialites’ Photos?

April 19, 2008 · 8 Comments

Unlike New York, Jakarta has no Patrick McMullan or David Patrick Columbia who would regularly upload the latest photos of socialites into their websites. The only way to glimpse (or observe) the latest photos of those staggeringly beautiful fixtures is by subscribing to numbers of society magazines.

We understand that the lack of integrity nor implementation of the latest technology in local medias restricts us from having the joy (or frustration) of having your photos shown to more people. And also for readers, photos of socialites studded events that were thrown in Jakarta – unlike in other cities (Los Angeles, New York, London, etc) – are not subjects of admirations and comments.

Tell us your opinion, VOTE by clicking the link below;

Do you want us to post photos of socialites into our blog?

Much Love,

Jakarta Social Blogger

We Know What You Want!

April 15, 2008 · 23 Comments

You might follow the scandal of the Russian step-siblings who were the force behind the nasty, bitchy, and previously shutted down socialiterank.com or subscribe to the more well-mannered blog of Illinois-based James Kurisunkal with the address parkavenuepeerage.wordpress.com (google it if you don’t know a single thing about those) which means that you’re already familiar with what they call ’society’ and prestigious zip codes of New York Upper East Side such as 10021, 10022, 10028, 10065, 10075, etc.

Or if you don’t, perhaps you might religiously follow the imitation version of the glamour and glitter of the Big Apple titled Gossip Girl, which means that you do understand the rules of the Upper East Side and got your daily dish of fake gossips.

Wait…. Gossip Girl? Come on! We’ve known that socialite do exist in our very own town long before the drama was first aired! Yet the drama is tres California!

Jakarta – a city that has uber-prestigious zip codes such as 10230, 10270, 12310, etc – needs something like Park Avenue Peerage or Aileen Mehle’s late Suzy section on W magazine. We understand that numbers of the city’s society magazines are not enough; those tiny columns in there would never fit the uber-busy social schedule of our very dazzling socialites who are always one step ahead from average Jakartans. Come on, there are tons of fabulous house parties, cocktails, arisans, celebrations, etc happening in the city; yet the previously racy blog of Jakarta’s socialites is now closed. Based on that presumption, we planned to launch our very own jakartasocial.wordpress.com so that you can read and post comments again, at last – don’t you miss the joy of that darling?

If you have the hunger and crave for the hottest, freshest, and juiciest gossips to be served daily on your plate, well ummmm… screen, we hope that by reading the posts on jakartasocial.wordpress.com one day will satisfy your hunger, plus complementary dessert.

But how, oh how, could we create such an interesting and dedicated blog without the stars? And yes, readers too. We need our very own stars – the fabulous girls (yes, 50s are still girls – for us), and guys, in town. And by reading this post on your screen, we want you to know that we – the force behind the nice and well-mannered Jakarta Social Blog – need you to participate by sending photos and reports of the parties, cocktails, trunk shows, trips, daily out and abouts, etc of Jakarta’s darlings to our email, jakartasocial@gmail.com. We plead you to support us.

Jakarta Social Blog guarantees that there will be no nasty, bitchy, and destructive posts ever. We will only post positive and constructive things. We – Jakarta’s set of high society – have to watch our manner, in it are our words and actions. We will work hard to make it a ‘too good to be true’ phenomenon. Our goal? Being a trusted source for the city’s social activity – just like parkavenuepeerage.wordpress.com - sans ruining someone’s image.

Upon request, we will post profile of Jakarta’s fabulous and prominent girls, and yes, guys too! Just send your biography (if you are in the circuit) or someone in the circuit that you know (friends, relatives, etc) to jakartasocial@gmail.com. We will also publish your social announcement upon request.

And the rule to post comments? Just one, do not write destructive and fictive things that can ruin someone’s image. You don’t want people to write and read bad things about you too right?

We need your participation and cooperation.

Much Love,
Jakarta Social Bloggers
